Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

John Perry

Ceist:

269 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance the steps, if any, he has taken to ensure that the drainage of the Killerry river first tributary off the Bonet river will commence in view of the fact that the lack of drainage is greatly affecting the best land in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18894/97]

The Commissioners of Public Works have no proposals to carry out any drainage works on the Killerry river. This river was considered some years ago in the context of the Bonet catchment drainage scheme but was excluded at that time because water levels in it are dictated by levels in Lough Gill. Drainage works on the Bonet scheme ceased in 1992 and the scheme is now on maintenance.
