41 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the plans, if any, she has to privatise those sections of the public service, under the aegis of her Department, which are clearly inefficient and which are not cost effective; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18959/97]
The nature of the activities covered by my Department, concerning policy development and regulation of the transport, energy and communications sectors; development of a shareholding function; as well as the Geological Survey Office and Met Éireann, does not immediately suggest areas or sectors which could be privatised in the manner implied in the question. If the Deputy has particular areas in mind I will be happy to hear from him.
