Vol. 482 No. 8

Written Answers. - Occupational Therapists' Salary Scale.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

166 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to review and revalue the pay and opportunities for further training of occupational therapists. [19414/97]

On 30 April 1997 the Labour Court issued its findings on a pay claim made by nine paramedical professions including occupational therapy recommending, in summary, an increase of 5.5 per cent to 10.5 per cent on each of the relevant salary scales. In addition, the Labour Court also recommended the setting up of an expert group to examine and report on several issues including those of training and education requirements for each of the professions. This expert group has recently been set up and will report on its findings in due course.
