138 Mr. Collins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the amount of grant that was allocated to each local authority in relation to the operation of the local improvement scheme for each of the years from 1992 to date in 1997; the number of schemes completed in each local authority area in each of the years from 1992 to date in 1997; the number of schemes awaiting grant allocation in each county; and the number of applications in each local authority outstanding for each of the years from 1992 to date in 1997. As the administration of the local improvements scheme is devolved to county councils, details of waiting lists and the number of applications outstanding in individual counties are not available in my Department. Details of the number of schemes completed in each county council for the years 1992 to 1996, based on information supplied by the local authorities concerned, are set out in table 1. Details of the number of schemes completed to date in 1997 are not yet available in my Department.

Details of grants payments to each council under the local improvements scheme for the years 1992 to 1996, inclusive, are contained in the booklet State Grant Payments to Local Authorities for National, Non-National and Non-Public Accommodation Roads and own resources expenditure by Local Authorities on National and Non-National Roads in the period 1989-1997 which is available in the Oireachtas Library. Payments to date in 1997 are set out in table 2.
