Vol. 483 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

142 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has received regarding the extension of the sewerage scheme at Rathmore, County Kerry; when his Department will give approval to Kerry County Council to proceed with the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20000/97]

Kerry County Council has requested approval to proceed with the preparation of contract documents for its proposals to provide a sewage collection system at Rathmore West. This system will discharge to the existing treatment system at Rathmore town which will be upgraded. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the council's request.
