Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy McGinley — dúnadh monarcha Europlast ar an Eastát Tionscail i nGaoth Dobhair agus cailliúint 50 post agus an gá le íocaíochtaí iomarcaíochta fiúntacha a íoc leis na hoibrithe; (2) Deputy Timmins — the increase in funding of £5 million granted by the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation to An Bord Failte; (3) Deputy Barrett — the problem of the waiting lists for cardiac surgery for children at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin; (4) Deputy Hayes — the need for an annual subvention to the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in light of the present financial crisis it is undergoing; (5) Deputy Finucane - the need to expedite construction on Gáelscoil O Dhúbhair, Caisleán Nua, Contae Luimnigh, and the date on which construction will commence; (6) Deputy Ulick Burke — the need for a proper and adequate allowance to be given to people providing home help to needy persons in their homes; (7) Deputies Sargent and Gormley — the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to introduce measures so that organic waste and building rubble are not landfilled but composted and recycled respectively close to where they are created; (8) Deputy Gay Mitchell — the serious situation in Algeria where it is reported that up to 80,000 people have been murdered in most dreadful atrocities; (9) Deputy Ferris — the serious issue of flooding in Clonmel, County Tipperary and Government inaction on this issue which is affecting the livelihoods of thousands of people in the Clonmel area; (10) Deputy Shatter — the proposed closure of the Premier Dairies/HB plant in Rathfarnham, Dublin; (11) Deputy Olivia Mitchell — the imminent closure of Premier/HB Dairies, Rathfarnham, the only milk producing unit in Dublin with the loss of over 300 jobs; (12) Deputy Michael Ahern — the failure to forward the file resulting from the Garda inquiry into the tragic fatality at the Smashing Pumpkins concert in the Point Depot on 11 May 1996 and (13) Deputy Upton — the need to ensure that there is no repetition of the sequence of errors which led to the release of five prisoners who were before the courts in connection with the seizure of £3 million of illegal drugs.

The matters raised by Deputies Shatter, Olivia Mitchell, Ferris and Ulick Burke have been selected for discussion.
