Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

305 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will have arrangements made to have the contract documents currently with his Department for a WSS augmentation scheme at Gowran, Goresbridge and Paulstown in County Kilkenny approved in order to enable the scheme to go to tender as soon as possible, particularly in view of the fact that this scheme has been awaiting approval for ten years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20603/97]

In March 1997 Kilkenny County Council were requested to update the contract documents for the Gowran/Goresbridge/Paulstown regional water supply scheme. Revised contract documents are awaited.

Ceist:

306 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the need to upgrade treatment works, improve and provide new pipe network at Thomastown, County Kilkenny where all developments, housing and industry, in the areas have ceased due to the lack of a proper system and in view of the fact that these developments cannot proceed in spite of the fact that planning permissions have been granted by the local authority; if he will have arrangements made to have the brief already submitted to his Department by Kilkenny County Council approved to allow consulting engineers to be appointed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20604/97]

I am aware of the importance of the Thomastown sewerage scheme. However, given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this proposal.

Ceist:

307 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when approval will be granted by his Department to invite tenders for the new treatment works for Graiguenamanagh sewerage scheme in County Kilkenny in view of the fact that all documentation has been lodged to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20605/97]

Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this proposal.
