365 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science when permanent status will be afforded to teachers employed part-time under the VTOS in terms of the provisions of the Programme for Competitiveness and Work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20171/97]
400 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, he has to deal with VTOS teachers in relation to the fulfilment of commitments given in the Programme for Competitiveness and Work. [20517/97]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 365 and 400 together.
Negotiations are currently taking place with the relevant parties in relation to the detailed procedures for permanent appointments in respect of VTOS. I will advise the Deputies when the negotiations are concluded and permanent appointments may be sanctioned.
