144 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will fund a repair and maintenance programme for a college (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if funds will be made available in 1997 or early 1998 in view of the poor condition of the building and the health and safety implications for those who use it; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received an application for funding for extensive works to be carried out at the school in question. This application is currently being examined by officials in my Department's planning and building unit in terms of enrolment, future viability and cost implications. In addition the school authority has been requested to prioritise the works in order to assist in expediting the application.
