44 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if the summer job scheme will operate in the summer of 1998 in view of the fact that this information is important to allow students to plan their activities in advance. [20347/97]
The students summer jobs scheme was a major success this year with an estimated 15,500 students participating. It has proved again to be of significant benefit both to students and to local communities.
The scheme will operate again in 1998 from June to September. Proposals for the 1998 scheme are currently being finalised and I will be making an announcement in this regard in the near future.
