Vol. 483 No. 5

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

132 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will review the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 in view of the reply received from Dublin Corporation in order to determine the grounds if any on which he can successfully appeal the matter. [20886/97]

The grant of a superannuation awarded to or in respect of a former employee of a local authority is a matter for the local authority concerned in the first instance. I have no function unless and until an appeal is made to me in relation to the failure or refusal of the local authority to grant a superannuation award or in relation to the amount of an award.

I have no appeal in relation to the person named in this case.
