Vol. 483 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

161 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science whether, as arranged, officials from his Department have met representatives of existing primary schools in Naas, County Kildare with the objective of identifying current and projected needs at primary and post-primary level; the intentions, if any, he has arising from these discussions in order to address the problems in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20894/97]

I confirm that officials from the planning section of my Department met representatives of the primary schools in Naas, on 4 November 1997, to discuss school accommodation needs in the area. Further such discussions are planned. These meetings form part of an overall review being carried out by my Department in relation to this issue. When the review has been finalised, it will be possible to make a decision on future accommodation requirements.
