40 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands whether she will increase or expand the number and variety of cultural activities likely to be supported by her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20790/97]
In answering this question I assume that what is meant is the range of cultural activities covered mainly by the institutions under my aegis, in particular the institutions that come within the framework of subhead C1 of my Department's Vote, and the cultural projects coming within the framework of subhead C2 of my Vote.
The Deputy will appreciate that it is a matter for the cultural institutions concerned coming within the ambit of subhead C1 of the Vote to organise their activities within the resources available. I have no specific plans at this time to expand the range of cultural activities supported on a continuing basis under subhead C2 of the Vote.
