84 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will announce her decision on the introduction of an islander allowance as promised; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20614/97.
As I stated in reply to Question No. 204 on 7 October 1997 and to Question No. 46 of 23 October 1997, the issue of a special islander allowance is among the matters at present under consideration by me with a view to improving living conditions for people whose permanent place of residence is on an offshore island.
