Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

244 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction the provision of flood relief requirements at John's Quay and Green Street, Kilkenny city, both of which are part of the overall flood relief plan for Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20914/97]

The final flood report for Kilkenny city is not yet complete and ongoing model testing by the consultants involved will confirm the optimum solutions. These will then be put to Kilkenny Corporation. Its preferred solution, including those for John's Quay and Green Street will then be subject to environmental impact surveys, cost benefit analyses and public exhibition. It is not practicable to selectively advance piecemeal options for individual areas for attention in advance of the final report.
