Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Askeaton and Ballysteen Animal Health Group.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

312 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason representatives of the Askeaton and Ballysteen Animal Health Group were not invited to the open forum on planning system organised by him on 26 November 1997 in view of the fact that this group have strongly lobbied for such a forum and they have very strong views to contribute to that debate. [21451/97]

In holding the convention on the review of planning legislation I was anxious to have as wide a range of interests as possible represented. Representatives were invited from political parties, local authorities, the social partners, professional associations, representatives of tenants and residents' associations, environmental organisations and academic institutions. Due to accommodation constraints it was necessary to confine representation from the non-governmental sector to national organisations and I regret that it was not possible to invite local groups.

However, all the written submissions which have been made, including that on behalf of the Askeaton Animal Health Group, will be taken into consideration in the review.
