332 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if damage was recently caused to archaeological sites (details supplied) in County Westmeath; if so, the action that is being taken in this regard; and if the remaining archaeological sites there will be protected. There are a number of archaeological sites situated on privately owned lands in this particular townland. My Department has received no reports of damage to any of them but, if the Deputy has any specific information, I shall be pleased to have the matter investigated. Under the provisions of section 12 of the National Monuments (Amendment) Act, 1994, legal protection was extended earlier this year to all recorded "Monuments and Places" in County Westmeath.
