497 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason the building of Phase two of Castleknock community college, which had been due to commence in October 1997, has been postponed, particularly in view of the fact that there will be no accommodation available for the planned pupil intake of 225 for 1998-9; when it is planned to commence construction of phase two; the steps, if any, which will be taken to expedite the process in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Stage two of architectural planning (outline sketch scheme) for the second phase of Castleknock community college is currently being prepared by the County Dublin vocational education committees design team. When this has been received in my Department, the project will be progressed further without delay.

It is not possible at this stage of planning to indicate when the project is likely to be ready for construction. However, every effort will be made to ensure that architectural planning is completed as speedily as possible.
