I propose to take Questions Nos. 53, 67, 73 and 84 together.

My Department administers the sports capital programme which is the primary vehicle for promoting the development of sports and recreation facilities in Ireland. The programme provides national lottery funding towards the provision and development of sports facilities at national, regional and local level.

It is my intention to review the operation of the programme including, in particular, examining how it can be better focused to respond to the needs of the most disadvantaged areas, to take account of the priorities for sport and social inclusion outlined in the Government's An Action Programme for the Millennium.
I will also be initiating discussions early next year with my colleague, the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, regarding development of proposals for local authority sports and leisure officers in line with the commitment in An Action Plan for the Millennium.
