Vol. 484 No. 2

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John Perry

Ceist:

118 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to relocate a Government Department to Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21742/97]

I have no plans at present to decentralise any further sections of a Government Department to Sligo. The Deputy will, of course, be aware that Sligo has already benefited from decentralisation with the location there of over 450 staff of the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs.

The ongoing decentralisation programme is not yet complete and there are no plans to extend the programme pending its completion and a review of its effectiveness.
