9 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department is prepared to provide financial assistance for the Parkside homework project in Ballina, County Mayo which caters for 120 children ranging from junior infants up to post-primary students; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the work being carried on by the Parkside homework project. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that officials of my Department met a delegation from the project in recent weeks to discuss its request for financial assistance. It was agreed at this meeting that the project would submit further particulars regarding its operation, to enable my Department to determine the nature and level of any support which might be appropriate. I assure the Deputy that an early decision will be made on this matter when the additional information requested is received from the project.
