Written Answers. - Teachers' Salaries.
At present, the payment date for certain teachers' salaries is the fifth day of the month following that in respect of which salary is due. As a precursor to placing these salary payments on a fortnightly basis, in line with those for other teachers, the date of payment is being changed from 5 January 1998 to 31 December 1997. This will facilitate the introduction of a system of fort-nightly pay for these teachers in the latter part of 1998. This will also bring them into line with other teachers.
