Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

136 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of suckler cow and beef cow headage premia. [21828/97]

The following payments have now issued to the person named: £1,882.06 in respect of 1997 beef cow application and £2,440 in respect of 1997 suckler cow application.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

137 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a new hardship grant will be made payable to a person (details supplied) in County Laois. [21829/97]

The hardship grant arrangements are designed to assist eligible herdowners with restricted holdings where cattle have to be retained and fed during periods of restrictions. The 1996-97 hardship grant eligibility period ran from 1 November, 1996 to 30 April, 1997 and applications received outside of that period cannot be considered. The herdowner in question applied for payment of grant on 10 June, 1997 which is outside the relevant period. In the circumstances, I regret that hardship grant is not payable in this case.
