Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Developments.

John Browne

Ceist:

261 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of approved housing developments which have been rescinded by the Ministers concerned for each of the years from 1990 to date in 1997, excluding refusal on grounds of tender prices being too high; the counties involved in this regard; and the reasons for the refusal. [22134/97]

John Browne

Ceist:

262 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of approved housing plans by urban and county councils which he has rescinded since taking office; and the reasons, if any, in each case. [22135/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 261 and 262 together.

The information sought is not readily available and its compilation would involve examination of several hundred individual files which would require a disproportionate amount of time and work.

However, I have recently expressed my concern with the choice by Carlow Urban District Council of an existing public park as a site for two housing schemes for which design approval had been given. In this connection, I refer to my contribution on the Adjournment Debate on this matter on 4 December 1997.
