280 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number and location of social welfare branch offices which are run by private individuals; and the number of people employed in this regard. [22219/97]

Social welfare branch offices are operated by private individuals who are contracted by my Department to provide a limited range of services. There are 71 branch offices and the number of people employed by branch managers is about 230. These offices are located in the following areas: Ardee, Athy, Muine Bheag, Balbriggan, Ballinasloe, Ballinrobe, Ballybofey, Ballyshannon, Baltinglass, Bandon, Bantry, Belturbet, Birr, Blessington, Boyle, Cahir, Callan, Carrickmacross, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Castleblayney, Castlepollard, Castlerea, Claremorris, Clonakilty, Clones, Dingle, Donegal, Dungarvan, Dunmanway, Edenderry, Enniscorthy, Ennistymon, Fermoy, Gorey, Gort, Kells, Kildare, Killarney, Killorglin, Killybegs, Kilmallock, Kilrush, Kinsale, Loughrea, Macroom, Mallow, Maynooth, Midleton, Monaghan, Nenagh, Newmarket, New Ross, Passage-West, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Rathdowney, Roscommon, Roscrea, Skibbereen, Swinford, Thomastown, Tipperary, Trim, Tuam, Tubbercurry, Tulla, Tullamore, Tullow, Wicklow, Youghal.
