Ceist:287 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when work is expected to commence on the final phase of restoration to Kilkenny Castle; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21948/97]

Advertisements were placed in the national and local press to establish a list of contractors interested in and qualified to undertake the proposed works. The closing date for receipt was Friday last, 5 December.
Requests to tender will soon be issued to suitable contractors and it is hoped to have a contract placed early in 1998, with a view to having a contractor on site before Easter.
