Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Export Trade.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

90 Mr. Callely asked the Taoiseach the countries to which Ireland exports raw materials and finished products; the value of this trade in 1996 and to date in 1997. [22108/97]

Exports are classified by commodity according to the combined nomenclature of the European Union. This classification does not distinguish between finished and unfinished products.

The table classifies exports to the main countries of destination for 1996 and for the period January-July 1997.

It should be noted that, overall, approximately 2 per cent of trade is unclassified by country. The unclassified trade consists mainly of intra-EU estimates, including estimates for traders below the export survey threshold of £500,000.
