115 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she is committed to the national strategy for sustainable development, 1997; and if this strategy forms the basis of her Department's work over the coming years. [22946/97]
The national sustainable development strategy includes two sectors for which I have responsibility — energy and transport. As our economy continues to grow we are aiming to strike a balance between sustainability on the one hand and the ongoing development of the various sectors of the economy and their continuing contribution to overall economic growth on the other hand. The objective of the sustainable development, as set out in the strategy, is and will continue to be to the forefront in policy development in the sectors for which I have responsibility.
