31 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food his views on the manner in which the Avonmore and Waterford merger was concluded and implemented in the week ending 30 November 1997; if he will continue to meet and liaise with the interest groups involved in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Issues arising from the merger of Avonmore and Waterford are essentially matters for the companies concerned to deal with within the legislative framework which governs such mergers.

I am prepared to have whatever dealings with interest groups involved that are both useful and appropriate.
