It was a condition of the 1997 schemes that applicants applying for premium on 15 livestock units and over under the EU premium schemes or who wished to claim any of the disadvantaged areas headage grants or to qualify for extensification premium were required to submit an area aid application. As my Department has no record of having received an area aid application from the person named his application for 19 cows under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme cannot be processed further at present. However, when payment of balances commences under the 1997 scheme in early February, the person named will be paid on a total of 15 livestock units under the premium schemes.
