Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Legalisation of Documents.

Dick Spring

Ceist:

184 Mr. Spring asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when the statutory instrument to comply with the Conventions of Legalisation of Documents will be made; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1782/98]

Certain amendments to the Companies (Forms) Order, 1964 are required to facilitate the ratification by Ireland of three conventions relating to the legalisation of documents. While progress has been made on the preparation of the necessary statutory instrument to amend the order, certain clarifications are awaited from the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Justice, Equality and Law Reform, before the statutory instrument can be finalised by the office of the parliamentary draftsman. These clarifications are being pursued as a matter of urgency.

Amendment of the rules of the superior courts, a matter for my colleague the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, will also be necessary before the conventions can be ratified.
