518 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has for the enhancement of legislation on the Ombudsman and on administrative procedures having regard to the Taoiseach's address to the national conference of the Institute for Public Administration on the theme of governance and accountability in the public sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Deputies will be aware the Government has committed itself in An Action Programme for the Millennium, to expanding the remit of the Ombudsman. Legislative proposals to that end are at present being examined in my Department and will be brought forward in due course. Proposals on administrative procedures are also being examined.
