544 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 will receive a lung transplant at Harefield Hospital in view of the fact that she is on a priority list and an abortive attempt was made in July 1997 to have this procedure carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The person to whom the Deputy is referring is under the care of the cardiothoracic unit at the Mater Hospital and is on the waiting list for a lung transplant at Harefield Hospital. I understand that an attempt at transplant was made in July 1997 but unfortunately proved unsuccessful as the donor organ was unsuitable. I have been informed by the authorities at the Mater Hospital that the patient is scheduled to return to Harefield on 26 February for further assessment.
