184 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science when a person (details supplied) in County Sligo who is attending a national school in County Sligo (details supplied) will be provided with a grant for school transport; if his attention has been drawn to the hardship caused by the delay in processing this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2283/98]
: I confirm that an application for a school transport grant for the pupil in question was received by my Department in September of last year.
On 17 October 1997 my Department requested further information from the family concerning this application. No response to this request has been received to date.
I assure the Deputy that as soon as this information is received and considered by my Department, a decision will be conveyed to the family without delay.
