*The figures in 1997 and 1998 are cumulative figures reflecting allocations since 1996.
**These figures do not include a sum of £1 million allocated to the local area task forces in 1997 arising from the ministerial task force reports on measures to reduce the demand for drugs. A further £2.3 million ia available to the Eastern Health Board in 1998 arising from once off expenditure of this amount in 1997. This £2.3 million will allow for the provision of additional services in 1998. In addition the board is also currently considering the funding which will be required to provide services on top of those being funded from this £2.3 million. The board will be in discussion with my Department about the resources which will be necessary to meet this following their consideration of the matter.
