Vol. 486 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Education Needs.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

140 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science the arrangements, if any, which have been made to ensure access to primary education for persons (details supplied) in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2867/98]

In order to put special education supports in place for the children in question, it is necessary that their precise needs be identified through psychological assessment.

I understand that my Department's inspectorate is liaising with the relevant health authorities in an effort to secure the necessary assessments.

I can assure the Deputy that the educational needs of the children in question will be fully considered on receipt of these assessments.
