Ceist:215 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide the North-Eastern Health Board with the necessary funds for an ambulance base in Ashbourne, County Meath. [3389/98]
Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.
I have provided the sum of £520,000 in 1998 to the North-Eastern Health Board to develop the ambulance service in line with the recommendations of the Review Group on the Ambulance Service.
I am pleased to be able to inform the Deputy that agreement in principle has been reached between the North-Eastern Health Board and Meath County Council to the joint provision of an ambulance base and fire station at Ashbourne. The necessary funding has been made available in the board's allocation and it is included in the board's service plan.
