I propose to take Questions Nos. 35, 56 and 119 together.

The work of the committee of inquiry established by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland is ongoing. While I am briefed on progress from time to time, I will receive only a formal assessment from my Department's observer when the committee's deliberations have concluded.

The statutory recognition of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland — ICAI was amended on 10 October 1997 so as to provide unrestricted access for one or more of my Department's officials to observe the proceedings of any committees of inquiry established by the institute. The amended recognition includes the right to obtain written transcripts of all such proceedings.
