Vol. 487 No. 4

Written Answers. - State Board Appointments.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

120 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the State boards under her responsibility which have a member under the age of 30; the nominator of this member to the board; and the measures, if any, she proposes to increase the number of young people on these boards. [4365/98]

Appointments made by me to the boards of State agencies under the aegis of my Department are made by reference to the experience and qualifications of the appointees. Government policy in relation to female representation on boards is also taken into account. In this regard, age, in my view, is not a consideration of paramount significance for appointment to a State board.
