134 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the proposals, if any, there are to relax the qualification criteria for the early retirement scheme in relation to the external income limit of 50 per cent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4312/98]

There are no proposals to amend the requirements of the scheme at present. However, when the regulation comes to be reviewed later this year, all aspects of its operation will be considered, and I have already taken the opportunity to raise the matter with the Commissioner.
