173 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance the consultations, if any, he has had with the European Commission regarding his proposal to proceed with a rural renewal scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4902/98]
Preliminary discussions have taken place with the EU Commission within the past few weeks on a number of measures announced in the budget including the proposed pilot rural renewal scheme in regard to the State aids implications. It will be necessary to formally notify the EU Commission of the details of this and other schemes when the schemes have been finalised.
