319 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to difficulties experienced by the regional orthodontic consultant body in trying to establish training links with the Dublin Dental Hospital; the implications, if any, of this for the development of the public orthodontic service; the steps if any, he will take to address this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 334 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will ensure proper post graduate training and education for staff who provide orthodontic services; if he will facilitate calls by the health board orthodontic group, regional consultant body, to establish training pathways linking with the Dublin Dental Hospital which would allow staff to continue to provide a valuable service in the Eastern Health Board whilst attending lectures one day per fortnight at an academic institution; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 340 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education and Science the steps, if any, his Department has taken to provide for the proper training and education of postgraduate staff providing orthodontic treatment in the Eastern Health Board area; if his attention has been drawn to the efforts which have been made by the regional consultant body to establish a training programme with the Dental Hospital; if so, his views on these efforts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 341 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science the discussions, if any, he has had with the Department of Health and Children regarding a dispute which has arisen between the Dublin Dental Hospital and the Eastern Health Board over the composition of a training programme between the orthodontic service and the hospital; the discussions, if any, which have taken place between the hospital and his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
