140 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the status of an application for an extra quota for suckler cows for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; when a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5730/98]
The person named has applied for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 1998 national reserve. I have accepted the recommendations of the quota review group which gave priority for the allocation of quota from this reserve to eligible applicants with low livestock units. It is estimated that all the available quota will be utilised by eligible applicants with fewer than ten livestock units. As the person already has 20 livestock units, she is unlikely to receive an allocation of quota from this reserve.
