172 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the total number of submissions he received in the context of the budget and the Finance Bill; whether he has, or expects to, respond positively to some or all of these submissions either through the aegis of the Finance Bill or by other means; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I received approximately 300 submissions in the context of the budget and Finance Bill. All these submissions have been examined carefully by my Department in consultation with the Revenue Commissioners and the outcome of this process is reflected in my Budget Statement of 3 December 1997 and the Finance Bill as initiated which I published on 12 February 1998.
