Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

210 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the disabled persons grant could be extended to include the installation of replacement PVC aluminium windows for persons whose medical condition requires constant heat in their homes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5667/98]

A local authority may pay a grant, in accordance with the Housing (Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants) Regulations, 1993, for necessary adaptation works to a house to render it more suitable for accommodation of a disabled person. Subject to these regulations, it is a matter for the local authority concerned to determine, in individual cases, eligibility for a grant and the type of works for which a grant may be given.
