Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Architectural Heritage.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

227 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will have a full professional inspection carried out of the ruined church of Faithlegg, County Waterford, in the context of public safety; if so, if she will publish in full the report of the inspection; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5436/98]

Officials of Dúchas the Heritage Service of my Department will soon carry out an inspection of the ruined church at Faithlegg. The inspection will focus on the overall structural condition of the church with particular reference to the aspect of public safety. I will communicate the findings of the report to the Deputy when they become available to me. If required, advice will be made available to local interests desirous of undertaking work to the church. However, I should add that the church at Faithlegg is not in State care at present.
