232 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 125 of 19 February 1998, the date on which he received the assurance of the Government of the United States as conveyed in writing to him by the US Ambassador in relation to an extradition request. [5434/98]
The United States Ambassador to Ireland wrote to me on 21 November 1997 forwarding the request for extradition in this case and conveying the assurance in question. The papers were presented to me by my Department on 28 November 1997. The further assurances referred to in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 125 of 19 February 1998 were forwarded by the Ambassador on 6 February 1998 and presented to me on 7 February 1998.
