Ceist:

30 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance if the proposal agreed by the former Government in April 1997 to establish a State claims agency to act as a co-ordinating body for compensation claims against the State will proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1593/98]

The Government decided last year to proceed with the establishment of a State claims management agency. The drafting of heads of a Bill to establish the agency is proceeding and I expect to be in a position to put the proposals to the Government for approval in the near future.
