Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Seaside Resorts Scheme.

Billy Timmins

Ceist:

44 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Finance if he will include Bray as a designated seaside resort area in the Finance Bill. [5602/98]

The designated seaside resorts scheme was introduced on 1 July 1995 for three years on a pilot basis. Officials from my Department, the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation and the Revenue Commissioners are currently reviewing the pilot scheme. Any decision regarding the designation of new areas will have to take into consideration the findings of this review. It is not expected that this review will be completed until the early summer. Therefore, I will not include Bray, or any other resort area, in the scheme during the Stages of the 1998 Finance Bill.
