Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Health Board Investigations.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

193 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department is investigating a complaint by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo regarding the hospitalisation of his mother in February of 1992 and her subsequent death. [6325/98]

I understand that this case has been thoroughly investigated over the past five years by Western Health Board officials initially and, subsequently, by my Department's deputy chief medical officer and my Department's then chief medical officer. On the basis of their findings, it would appear that no grounds exist for proceeding further with investigations into this case.
